From Apple 96W USB-C power adapter which is designed for use with the 16-inch MacBook Pro currently faces a 2-3 month shipping estimate at the company’s online store in the United States and many other countries. The adapter is also listed as not available for store pickup at most Apple retail stores worldwide.

In some countries like Japan, the shipping estimate of 2-3 months started showing up in august, and since then the delay has spread to more countries.

Weather redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models rumored to be launched later this year, many tech companies are facing supply constraints due to a global chip shortage, so the reason for the delay in shipping the 96W power adapter is unclear in last instance.

Apple has included the 96W power adapter with the 16-inch MacBook Pro since the laptop was released in November 2019, and it’s also sold separately for $ 79, albeit now with the long shipping delay. The previous generation 15-inch MacBook Pro shipped with an 87W power adapter, which Apple has since discontinued.

Apple’s smaller 20W, 30W, and 61W power adapters do not currently face long shipping delays in the United States.

A source from an authorized Apple reseller informed MacRumors that their resellers are currently out of stock of the 96W power adapter, suggesting that the power adapter faces significant multi-channel supply limitations.

Apple is rumored to be planning redesigned 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with a faster version of the M1 chip and brighter mini-LED displays. Rumors suggest that notebooks will have a design again with HDMI port and SD card reader, a magnetic power cord, and physical function keys in place of the touch bar.
