AMRAVATI: A government committee set up as per the directions of the High Court on the issue of cinema ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh met directly in the second block of the AP Secretariat on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by 13 people, including the Secretary to the Judiciary, the I&PR Commissioner, officials and senior officials, led by the Home Secretary. The committee, which has already met through a virtual approach and taken the views of the members, will meet directly this time to hold discussions. The committee will discuss the recommendations made by the JCs on ticket prices and then submit a report to the government.
The committee has met again to gather details on ticket prices in neighboring states of Telangana and Maharashtra and the facilities being provided to spectators. Representatives of the movie exhibitors and distributors industry have expressed concern that the management of theaters will be difficult as the government has reduced the prices of movie tickets over the past two months. The government has made it clear that it has taken a legal decision to reduce the prices of movie tickets by corporation, municipality and panchayat for the benefit of the audience.
