Liverpool lines up as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Naby Keita decisions made for Porto

Ian Doyle – Milner replaces Trent as Konate returns to play

No Trent, no problem?

We will see. Regardless, Liverpool will have to do without their right-back for the Champions League game in Porto.

He would have James Milner as a replacement, especially since Neco Williams just returned from an injury spell.

On the left side he would go with Kostas Tsimikas, while in the center of the defense Virgil van Dijk can stay but this time with Ibrahima Konate. Alisson Becker is in goal.

The midfield is more or less chosen alone, with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson accompanied by one of Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Naby Keita. Keita for me.

At the top Sadio Mane was not very good at Brentford and can make way for Diogo Jota moving to the left, with Roberto Firmino at the top and Mohamed Salah on the right.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Milner, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Fabinho, Henderson, Keita; Salah, Fimino, Jota.

Paul Gorst – Jota and Gomez enter

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s foul in Porto tonight is a huge blow.

But if the right-back has a chance to play in Sunday’s gigantic clash with Manchester City, then it’s wise to leave him out of this Group B match.

The Reds miss him a lot when he’s unavailable from an attacking sense, but James Milner has shown by his performance against Wilfried Zaha earlier this month that he can step in when called upon, on defense.

So tonight begins on the right side alongside Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Andy Robertson.

In midfield, I will resist the temptation to rest Fabinho and Jordan Henderson and keep them alongside Naby Keita, who is back in shape after a painful foot injury sustained in Norwich.

At the top, Sadio Mane is an observational summary, at least to begin with, with Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino tasked with doing the damage.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Milner, Gómez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Keita; Salah, Firmino, Jota.

Joe Rimmer – Kostas Tsimikas misses after defensive changes

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury is a blow to Liverpool at the wrong time.

Despite many overlook Porto, this will not be an easy match and it is not exactly ideal for James Milner to play as a right-back twice in a week.

In fact, I would have been tempted to include Conor Bradley, such was the impression he made against Norwich.

But he’s not in the tour group, so Milner is.

It would bring back Joe Gomez in central defender alongside his former teammate Virgil van Dijk, and while Kostas Tsimikas tempted me, I think it could be one more change in the last four.

Naby Keita enters my midfield with Fabinho and Henderson, and I also give Roberto Firmino a start, with Sadio Mane coming out.

My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Milner, Gómez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Keita; Salah, Firmino, Jota.
