Matt Amodio lands the second ‘Jeopardy!’ Longest winning streak

“Danger!” has a new rising star.

PhD at Yale student Matt AmodioThe 30-year-old is now the second-winningest contestant on the quiz show, notching his 33rd consecutive win on Friday and eclipsing James Holzhauer’s streak.

Amodio raised $ 55,400, bringing its earnings to $ 1,267,801. However, he was still behind Holzhauer’s total winnings of more than $ 1 million, due to his generally more conservative play in the “Double Jeopardy” and “Final Jeopardy” rounds.

“I have the opportunity to remind everyone how much better than me @James_Holzhauer is literally in every way”, Amodio tweeted before the pre-recorded contest in the air.

“It would be an honor to be unfavorably compared to a person I admire so much!”

The trivia genius would have to win 42 more games to beat Ken jennings 74 blitz games in 2004.

Jennings was scheduled to host the show alongside actress Mayim Bialik after Mike Richards. was forced to leave the concertand his role as executive producer, following the revelation of sexist comments he once made on a podcast.

“Danger!” had invited a lots of high profile guests moderate the show following the death of iconic host Alex Trebek.
