R. Kellypersona non grata in Baton Rouge … his “key to the city” there has been rescinded by the same official who gave him the honor.
Kelly received the honor in February 2013 for Denise marcelle, who, at the time, was a member of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Council. Marcelle tells us that after Kelly’s guilty verdict, she regrets giving Kelly a key to the city in the first place and is going to rescind it.
If you’re wondering how that works, the process doesn’t actually include physically removing the singer’s plaque and $ 256 key … but it’s stripped of the honor.
Obviously, there were allegations against Kelly when Marcelle presented her with the key in 2013, but she tells us that she only knew that he had been acquitted in 2008 and that he did not do his homework to really understand what was pointed out against him.
Marcelle now serves as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, and not on the BR Council, but a BR representative tells us that Marcelle still has the power to rescind the key since she was the one who delivered it.
As we reported … Kelly was pleaded guilty earlier this week on all charges in his federal sex crimes trial.
It didn’t take the jury that long to deliberate … starting Friday afternoon and taking only half a day on Monday to reach their verdict on 9 federal charges … including racketeering, sex crimes, human trafficking, obstruction of justice and kidnapping.
