Sheriff to hold press conference on disappearance of 19-year-old

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department was holding a press conference Monday about a 19-year-old woman who has been missing since Friday. The event was scheduled for 1 pm, but was postponed. The teams spent the weekend searching for Miya Marcano, who was last seen on Friday, September 24, around 5 p.m., at the Arden Villas apartments on University Boulevard. On Sunday, Orange County agents searched the interior, exterior and surroundings of the apartment complex where he lives. Marcano’s father told WESH 2 News that she worked for the apartment complex in the leasing office, which is where she was last seen. He said he spoke to his daughter on Friday afternoon, but did not hear from her when he got off work. says Marcano was scheduled to take a flight to his family’s home later that night, but never boarded the plane. Marcano’s family has traveled from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando to speak with detectives. Marcano is 19 years old and his family says he is 5 feet tall. “All we ask is that you help us get Miya home,” Marcano’s grandmother, Joysue Thompson, said. “Take her home safely, drop her off and tell us where she is and we’ll pick her up, just bring her home.” Neighbors said law enforcement is still present throughout the apartment complex. “A lot of sheriffs and everything was in this parking lot and they all crossed paths,” said Matthew Knapp, who lives near Arden Villas Apartments. Knapp said detectives were looking in the back of the apartments through trees and near a retention pond. “To be honest, because I didn’t know what they were looking for and yesterday the helicopter above us was now searching. going around five or six times, “said Juan Castillo, who lives near the apartments.
