In July, Jada appeared on her Facebook Watch series “Red table talk“with her husband where she directly addressed the rumors of an extramarital affair. Jada admitted that about four and a half years ago, she and Will separated with the intention of divorcing, and while they were separated she had a” relationship “with August Alsina.

“Jada never believed in conventional marriage … Jada had relatives who had an unconventional relationship,” Will says of his 23-year-old wife. “So she grew up in a very different way than I did. There were meaningful endless discussions about, what is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple? And for much of our relationship, monogamy was what we choose, without thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection. “

He added: “We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everyone has to find their own way. And marriage for us cannot be a prison. And I do not suggest our way to anyone. I do not suggest this way. for anyone. But the experiences that the freedoms we’ve given each other and unconditional support, for me, is the highest definition of love. “

HOW JADA PINKETT SMITH AND WILL SMITH ARE STILL LEARNING FROM EACH OTHER AFTER 23 YEARS OF MARRIAGE

Smith said he was grappling with whether or not to chronicle the revelation of Jada’s time with Alsina in his book, but ultimately decided against doing so because he believed it was not a story that he could tell correctly only from his perspective. He also reasoned that it would only do more harm than good in terms of the public’s perception of the events.

“The audience has an impenetrable narrative,” Smith said. “Once the public decides something, it is difficult or impossible to get rid of the images, ideas and perceptions.”

She explained that there were already misinterpretations of her “Red Table Talk” episode, meaning that since Alsina’s revelations were the impetus for the discussion, many viewers walked away thinking that Jada was the only one who had sex outside of marriage. Will revealed that this was not the case.
